Chrysalis Circle FAQ

What is your tradition?

We are an eclectic tradition, accepting Wiccan practitioners from many traditions. We have those who follow Greco-Roman, Celtic,  and Norse pantheons. All Paths Lead to the Divine.

What classes do you offer?

Our class structure is Introductory course- Basics, First Year course- Foundations of Wicca, Advanced course- Framework of Wicca.

When do you meet?

Foundation of Wicca Classes are held every other Sunday(approximately), from 10:00am to 4:00pm, with a social lunch for a break. Framework of Wicca Classes are held twice monthly with an additional ritual date during the month when appropriate. Basic Classes are held at times to be determined.

Rituals times vary. Some are daylight (never made sense to celebrate solar rituals after dark to us), some are evening, some are celebrated on the specific night (Samhain). Full and Dark Moon rituals will vary from the specific night with need. We do not celebrate every Esbat and Sabbat (as a group) but prefer to celebrate privately or with other groups. The reason for celebrating with other groups is to keep learning by interaction with them to keep this spiritual time alive and breathing new Air.

Where do you meet?

Most of the time, at Chrysalis Circle in Lakewood, near Alameda and Kipling.

Do you have a Degree system?

Yes. We also have room for those NOT seeking Degree (Coven) work. We allow those who wish to study, to continue with us in the level they feel comfortable. The reason for this decision is to allow those who wish to improve and expand their knowledge will be allowed to keep being spiritual without the need to advance if they wish not to do so. The levels are: Basic, Foundation, Framework, (and for those who wish to Coven), 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Degree studies. Definitions of Wiccan Study.  A student will move at their own pace through these studies with previous (outside of Chrysalis Circle) work checked and credited towards the work you are doing in this group.

What are your rules?

  • We try to keep to a minimum of rules, after all, this is not the,
“Sacred (Home Owners Association)”, it is the “Chrysalis Circle“.
  • We strive to live by the Wiccan Rede. Major decisions are made by the High Priestess and High Priest informally when possible.
  • Sexual harrassment is not tolerated.
  • We believe an attendance policy for ritual and meetings is necessary for good group dynamics. We sometimes attend other groups’ open rituals as well as rites of passage when possible. We consider helping in these rituals when asked as part of our community service as well as our spiritual service.
  • Most of our rituals are adult, private, and/or by invitation only.
  • We hold only one ritual that includes a skyclad portion. It is encouraged but optional (ask us for details) and is NOT a public ritual. It is NOT part of the classes mentioned.
  • Dues for Foundations and Framework are payable in advance, at least monthly.
  • Basic dues are $5 per class, $35 if paid at first class for the entire course.
  • Foundations dues are $20 per month.
  • There is a probationary period.
  • The privacy of members is very important. This must be respected.
  • Members are not allowed to bring about publicity involving Chrysalis Circle without prior permission from the High Priest of High Priestess.
  • We believe that rules are based on common sense, respect, and responsible adult behavior. Polite behavior works well.
  • We follow the Witches’ Pyramid, (To Know, to Will, to Dare, to Keep Silent, with Love Under All).
